Invite balance and harmony with the slow and perfect combination of movement, breath and mindfulness of Hatha Yoga. In this class, alignment and biomechanics is emphasised but students are also introduced to conscious breath practices (pranayama), meditation and deep relaxation. You’ll quickly learn the names of each asana as well as the modifications and options to meet your personal needs. In particular, students are taught “how to do” various standing, forward bending, backbending and twisting asanas, often incorporating the use of props. Hatha Yoga also provides the underlying structure to help a student eventually enter into a Vinyasa 101 and/or Jivamukti Yoga class intelligently and safely.
A perfect place to begin again. Beginners are encouraged to spend at least a few weeks attending Hatha Yoga before moving to Vinyasa 101 or Jivamukti Yoga. Experienced Yoga students will also benefit from exploring the alignment and biomechanic essentials presented in these classes. The length is 60 minutes.
