Hypnobirthing FAQs

When is the best time to attend Hypnobirthing classes?

Anytime! So long as you have the opportunity to learn the techniques before you birth. Yet the optimal time to start is between 20 and 30 weeks of pregnancy – that way you have time to practice the techniques leading up to birth, conditioning yourself to the calm and positive mindset. and the course content is still fresh in your mind. If you’re further along than that no worries, the course can be completed at anytime throughout your pregnancy that works for you. If you’re past the 36 week mark, just contact Jackie and she can discuss your options.

Should my partner attend?

The Hypnobirthing Australia™ courses very much involve the birth partner, as their love and supportive presence plays an important role in your birth experience. Your birth partner may be your life partner, husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, sister, mother, doula or anyone who you feel will best support you during your pregnancy and birth. However, if your birth partner can’t attend you are still so very welcome to attend the course on your own.

How many couples are in your group classes?

In order to get the most out of the course and from Jackie, and to personalise the course to each couple’s circumstances, there are only 4 – 6 couples per group workshop.

What if I can’t attend the group classes?

There are still a number of ways that you can learn the Hypnobirthing Australia™ Program with Jackie – including private face to face sessions, half group/half private sessions, or the online course with a specialised 90 minute private session. Please contact Jackie if you would like to learn more.

What happens if things don’t go to plan in our birth?

Every birth is unique and every woman has her own dreams and desires for the birth of her baby(ies). The Hypnobirthing Australia™ program provides you with up-to-date education and evidence-based tools and techniques so you can create your own personal birth-preference toolkit – this will empower you to confidently make informed decisions calmly and positively, no matter what turn your birthing my take.

Even with all the best preparation and homework, sometimes things don’t always go to plan, but Hypnobirthing can help in every birthing scenario. If things do change before your birthing day even after you have done the Hypnobirthing Australia™ course, there is an online Change of Circumstances course.

This adapted course provides you with some additional resources and training so that you can build on the knowledge, tools, support and a positive mindset that you already have in preparation for a calm and positive cesarean birth.

Contrary to what some people believe; you do have options, and your choices can have a huge effect on your state of mind as you birth, the atmosphere of the room, mother’s comfort and your baby’s introduction to the world. Birth can, and should be an experience that you will always want to remember!

Why does Jackie teach Hypnobirthing Australia™ Classes?

I’ve taught antenatal Yoga since 2009 and I had been hearing more and more about hypnobirthing. After researching it both online and by directly chatting to new mums about their hypnobirthing experiences, I just knew that there was a place for me to also help women with hypnobirthing. You see, over my years of experience providing pregnancy and childbirth education in the health and wellness setting, I am seeing more and more pregnant women with very real fears concerning birth. I have also witnessed the impact that a negative birth experience has on the psychological health of women. Antenatal education within the hospital system doesn’t seem to truly address these concerns. Yoga can help with optimal positioning (via asana/poses) and mindset (breathing practices and meditation) for both pregnancy and childbirth, but again there’s only so much you can cover in class.

I want to empower women with greater education about how amazing their bodies are, and in doing so give them their confidence back and release their fears to have faith they are strong and perfectly designed to birth their baby. We can’t say for sure if every birth can be a natural birth, but we can say that every birth is sacred, no matter what circumstances may arise. Thus, every birth should be a positive experience. The practices of Yoga compliment hypnobirthing beautifully. Yoga reminds us that we are already whole, complete and perfect when the influences of our everyday external world distorts this perception. I feel in the same way positive hypnobirthing can remind all mothers that they too are whole and already perfectly complete and capable of having a positive birth be it natural or assisted.

No time to attend the courses listed? You can still learn hypnobirthing! Please get in touch to discuss other options.
